As an Major policy decision, the state govt announced it inserted section 16B into the Goa Town and Planning Act, allowing conversion on Orchid lands to Settlement zones & Settlement areas into Industrial development area .
Speaking to media persons in Panjim, TCP minister Vijai Sardesai said that the govt through gazetted notification on Thursday, had given consent to the section 16B. He said that, with the following insertion of the section, people can legally convert their orchid land to settlement areas paying Rs.5000 as processing fees for conversion of land between 0 to 500 Sq. Meter.
He further maintained that for conversation of land above 500 sq. Meter to 1000sq. Meter an applicant had to pay addition Rs. 50 per sq. Meter as conversation fees. For conversion for orchid land from up to 10,000 sq. Meter applicant will have to pay Rs. 150/sq. Meter . For conversion for orchid land above 20,000 sq. Meter applicant will have to pay Rs. 200/sq. Meter
