Situation at the office the commissioner of the Panjim Municipal corporation, on Thursday morning remained tensed after hundreds of street vendors thronged the CCP building in Panjim.
The panic amongst street vendors, began after CCP official were not able to provide registration form to setup stalls for the annual feast fair of Our Lady of Immaculate Conception. The fright amongst vendors, sprouted after local cable channel on Wednesday exposed unknown person of selling feast fair registration forms illegally at Rs. 5000 per paper.
On advice of the CCP, The Goa police officials evacuated all vendors who rushed to the CCP office. CCP Mayor, Vithal Chopdekar after holding critical meeting with the commissioner of the Corporation Ajit Roy, Corporator Uday Madkaikar and Shubham Chodankar began distribution of New revised forms.
Speaking to media persons, CCP Mayor, Vithal Chopdekar said that the CCP had scrapped all old registration papers & issued new forms at Rs. 100 per, to resolve the issue. He maintained that officials from the accounts section could be responsible for the chaos. Chopdekar said that stalls for the fair would be setup at Campal opposite Bal Bhavan complex.
Panjim will celebrate the feast on 9th December. The feast mass will be at 10 am and will be concelebrated by Archbishop Filipe Neri Ferrao. The other masses will be at 5.30 am, 6.30 am, 7.30 am, 8.30am, 12.30 pm and 5.30 pm.
