Even as the union government has in-principally declined to MMRD Act, politicians in Goa remain have kept their lips tight over formulation of Mineral development corporation in the state for protecting inclusive “Goemkarponn” flavour in mining sector.
In an bid to mount a pressure on the Union government to amend MMRD Act & oppose fresh auctioning mining leases several hundreds of mining dependents from Goa, began their protest demonstration in Delhi on tuesday at Ramlila Maidan.
Leaders across political arena have remained silent to formulate “Goa Mineral Development Corporation” in the state. The section of activist and NGO’s who had exposed Goa mining illegalities at supreme court in recent past have been preaching establishment of “Mineral Development Corporation”.
Goa power minister Nilesh Cabral participated at the mining dependents mining protest demonstration. Various politician from Goa, are scheduled to participate at the protest demonstration ahead of the fast approaching Lok sabha elections.
Veteran Goan mining industrialist, have been well known to have their dominance on politicians across the party lines in Goa, while forming government and electioneering funding.
According to Public Policy Analysts, the union government has restrained amendment to MMRD act & opposed fresh auction of mining leases, to appease multinational corporate companies.
