Taking U-turn, over uplifting government health care institutions across the state indigenously, the Goa Health Minister Vishwajeet Rane on Wednesday said that it was a need of an hour to merge private players with government institutions to strengthen quality of health care medication in the state.
Rane said that Manipal hospital would sign an agreement with the Goa medical college and hospital for treating cancer patients in Goa. He said that the government can build infrastructure for setting up hospitals and allied medical facilities, however the government cannot carry out functioning of hospital efficiently. He said that the health ministry will outsource various medication facilities across Goan government hospitals to private sectors institutions.
Further stating that the government had given its permission for the Manipal hospital to conduct organ transplantation in Goa, Rane said that the secretary health was monitoring the process of setting up state organ and tissue transplant organization on the directives of the high court.
Couple of days after getting inducted as health minister, Rane had announced to strengthen all govt health institutions, rejecting permissions to conduct certain medications to all private hospitals.
