Stating that the Former Indian Defence Minister and then Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar failed to provide government jobs in Panjim constituency, Atanasio (Babush) Monserrate said that he would fight the forthcoming by- assembly elections with Development and employment issues.
Speaking to media persons after formally getting inducted into Congress party Thursday, Monserrate said that “When I meet youth they don’t want anything…. they don’t want money or anything …..nor I have money ……. the main issue is that they need employment ….. for that I will give simple example …… Mr. Manohar Parrikar was here for 24 years….. Half of the time he was Chief minister or Opposition leader , both were powerful post ……. I always believed that he was as good as CM, when any govt was there….. So, he was the fellow who could give each and every house employment”.
Further, sighting example Monserrate said that “if Vishwajeet Rane in his department , if there are say 100 vacancies, Vishwajeet sees that 99 on these vacancies goes to his constituency , one he will give out ….. now, lets us take example of Nilesh Cabral ……. Nilesh Cabral in electricity departments there were vacancies …… out of says 100, 90 he has given vacancies in his constituency , while 10 for outsiders …… if the same thing was followed by Manohar Parrikar , I think each and every house in Panjim would have a government job”.
Earlier, this month Monserrate resigned from the Vice – President of the Goa Forward Party to contest the by-elections Panjim. After death of Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar on March 17, the Panjim assembly seats became vacant. The Election commission of India, has slated elections for Panjim constituency on May 19.
Responding, the Monserrate’s statement Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said that “all recruitment in the state government were done on merit.”
