Taking a humourous jibe at the state government, while observing, World Press Freedom Day ( WPFD ) – the Goa Union of Journalist ( GUJ ) said that the office of Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar had become a serious threat to the freedom of press in recent past.
Comparing at the official function of the GUJ, senior journalist Ashley Rosario said that In recent past, Office of the former chief minister had become serious threat to the freedom of press in Goa.
Addressing on the occasion at Panjim on Friday, The president of GUJ, Kishor Naik Gaonkar said that Political powers were trying to suppress media in the state. He said that labeling media persons as prestitute was very serious to nation.
He further said that when journalist were not given to talk and ask questions that democracy was in danger. Gaonkar further maintained that Parrikar always used to answer questions from his heart .
Several journalist including Rajtilak Naik , Biva Parab ,Tejeshri Kumbar , Avit Bagle , Tukaram Govekar , Vasant Katkar, Sagun Gaude , Prasad Mamdrey , Rakesh Mundey , Nirgoesh Gaude, Vishant Vaze, Nivrutry Shriodkar, Ganesh Shetkar, Sanjay Guretkar, Aarti Das , Devendra Goankar, Smita Nair were awarded for excelling in the field of journalism in Goa.
