According the guidelines of the elections commission India, the campaign for the Panjim By election’s concluded at 5:00 PM today. Additional Chief Electoral Officer, Narayan Sawant informed The Goajunction that it had banned sale of liquor in the state from 6:00 PM of May 17th till 12:00 am of May 20th across Tiswadi Taluka. He said that, although the sale of liquor on casinos will remain closed, the gaming activity and eateries on the vessel will remain open between 17th and 19th May. Sawant further said that 22,482 voters in Panjim were entitled to caste there vote in 30 polling booths for the by polls.
The returning officer of the Panjim bypolls, Vivek H. P. told The Goajunction that the commission had identified Ward No. 22 and Ward No. 24 as sensitive areas for the polls. He said that the office of the returning officer would deploy Central armed police force in sensitive area. Vivek, further said that it had deployed 2 flying squads , beat polices, 4 static surveillance teams and 11 Naka Banhi points across Panaji to conduct free and fair polls.
