Goa Chief minister Pramod Sawant headed state government gears up to implement 61 days motorized fishing ban in the territorial water from 1st June 2019. The ban period is impelled by the government, as monsoon happens to be the breading phase of fishes in the ocean.
A high power task force committee, constituting of various government agencies including Fisheries, Home, Coast Guard and health department will participate while implementation of the fishing Ban.
In recent past the state government machinery, has failed to keep a check on the adulteration of formalin in fishes imported, at road check posts and railways stations. In several places across the state, imported fishes are been sold along the road sides.
The state government is expected to setup fish formalin testing mechanism on all goans border check points and railway stations. It is also expected to setup, fish test mechanism in public markets & allied places and keep a check on bull trawling actives.
