GOVT STOPS DRAWING POWER FROM SOUTHERN GRID. DIVERTS LOAD TO PGCIL : GOA POWER MINISTER

The power minister Nilesh Cabral, on Monday said that the state government had stopped procuring electricity from Raichur-Sholapur single circuit transmission line from immediate effect due to interrupted power supply in the state.

Addressing media persons in Panjim, Cabral said that the government has diverted complete load of the state to Power Grid Corporation Of India Limited (PGCIL) operated, National grid. He said that presently Goa was receiving 1,000 MW power, while the state was consuming 650 MW at the peak seasons.

He maintained that, electricity for the full state would be distributed by PGCIL from Colvale, Mahalaxmi and Tilari sub stations. Cabral said that govt will setup 400 KVA in next 4 years at Dharbandora connected to PGCIL, so that south Goa gets uninterrupted power supply.

Cabral maintained that people from Goa, should support govt’s initiative of coal handling and laying of electricity lines to enhance electricity infra in Goa.
