Couple of years after former Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, expressed that people opposing mega projects in the state, should have scientific temperament towards developmental Projects, the state government on Thursday reconstituted State Council for Science and Technology.
According to Science & Technology, Director – Levinson Martins the council will tackle problems of backwardness, unemployment and poverty in Goa. He claims that the science council will promote popularization of Science and the spread of a scientific temper and attitude among the people of Goa. He further said that the council would advise the Government on policies and measures relating to the development and deployment of Science and Technology manpower resources.
Martins also claims that the council will also address problems of rural areas, and under privileged sections of society such as Scheduled Castes Scheduled Tribes, Landless Labour Artisans, ‘Small/Marginal’ Farmers and Women.
The 16 member council is chaired by Chief minister Pramod Sawant and Science & Technology Minister as vice chairman.
