The state government, earlier this week appointed Mrs. Brahmidevi Brahmeshanandacharya on North Goa District Level Task Force committee for implementing Indian prime minister Narendra Modi’s “Mahila Shashaktikaran Yojana”.
According to the state government, it has constituted the North Goa District Level Task Force under the Mahila Shakti Kendra Scheme of Umbrella Scheme Pradhan Mantri Mahila Shashaktikaran Yojana (PMMSY) to be implemented during 2017-18 upto 2019-20.
As per notification issued, the Scheme will provide an interface for rural women to approach the Government for availing their entitlements and for empowering them through awareness generation, training and capacity building instituted by the Ministry of Women & Child Development, Government of India.
The 6 member task force will be chaired by Collector, North Goa. Other member include Dy SP-North, Dy. Director of Panchayats, Mattew Kurien, — El Shaddai, Brahmidevi Brahmeshanandacharya, Tapobhoomi, Deputy Director — Member (Child Welfare), DWCD
The North Goa District Level Task Force shall be responsible for oversight, monitoring, co-ordination, review and course correction of the functioning of District Level Centre for Women. The North Goa District Level Task Force to report to the State Level Task Force as well as the National Level Task Force/Ministry of Women and Child Development. The North Goa District Level Task Force shall also function as the Selection Committee for recruitment of contractual staff (i.e. one head of the Unit-Women Welfare Officer and two District Co-ordinators) for the District Level Centre for Women-North Goa as per the provisions of Mahila Shakti Kendra Scheme and also monitor the attendance and activities of the District Level Centre for Women.
