The state government on Thursday proposed to appoint the Goa Information Technology Development Corporation ( GITDC ) as nodal agency for the purpose of the assessment and recovery of all taxes in IT township and techno Park areas. Citizens are requested to raise objection – if any, by 27th August Goa at IT Department.
According to the state government, Goa Information & Technology Ministry is contemplating to declare areas under, Integrated Information Technology Township/Information Techno-logy Parks, Information Technology (IT) Companies, Information Technology Enabled Services (ITeS), Startup, Electronic Manufacturing Cluster (EMC), Industry 4.0 under GITDC.
As per the notified proposal, GITDC shall have all powers and controls over erection of building, levy and collection of taxes, fees and other dues in respect of local authorities which are in force. The proposal also states that corporation will be empowered to collect house tax, other taxes, fees and all other types of dues in the IT-corporations notified areas.
“The Village Panchayats, which are receiving house tax from the occupants of the said area, under their respective laws, shall be compensated by the Government to the extent of the last financial years collection of taxes for a period of five years”, notification further states.
The Goa IT ministry intends to initially declare 4,49,625 sq. mtrs Integrated Information Technology Township in Chimbel and around 12,000 sq. mtrs. Hybrid IT Park area in Porvorim under the IT Corporation.
