GOVT HAS 16% SHORTFALL IN GST REVENUE COLLECTIONS. WILL SEEK ADDITION 5YRS COMPENSATION FROM CENTRE : GOA CM

The Goa Chief Minister, Dr. Pramod Sawant on Thursday informed media persons that the state government, will have to seek additional 5 years compensation from union government on account of shortfall GST revenue collection in the state. Govt claims that it had 16% shortfall in GST revenue collections
Addressing media persons after reading the state budget, at the Goa legislative assembly – Sawant said that the union government’s compensation period for absorbing shortfall GST revenue collection will conclude on 2021. Sawant said the government will require additional 5 years to stabilise GST revenue collection in the state.
Speaking further, Goa Finance Secretary Daulat Hawaldar said that the state government had recorded around 16% shortfall in GST revenue collections. He maintained that, govt will work in harmony with Indian finance ministry to avail benefits of union govt schemes.
