Responding to leaders opposition Digambar Kamat and MGP MLA Sudin Dhavalikar questions, Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant told the legislative assembly that the state govt requires at least 5 months to procure equipments to host the National Games in Goa.
Sawant told assembly that it was not possible to host National Games in 2019, as the state govt had not appointed coaches for games. Sawant said that he would request IOA, to schedule the National games event in Goa after January 2020.
Meanwhile, responding Dhavalikar, Goa Sports Minister Manohar Azgaonkar said that infrastructure for hosting national games at only 7 sites out of total 35 sites were complete . He maintained that govt had spent Rs 650 crore infra setup of games. Azgaonkar said that govt will not pay any fines IOA, but provide funds to host the games in Goa.
