The Goa Chief minister, Pramod Sawant on Tuesday informed the state legislative assembly that the govt will not permit absorption of daily wages workers into govt sector from labour contractors.
Intervening, into Subhash Shriodkar’s question to PWD Minister Deepak Pausekar, Goa CM Sawant told the assembly that “For more than 6 months, labour contractors were not paying wages for daily workers. Several workers in recent past have approached me. Contractors even did not pay salaries, to workers during Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations. They even don’t get minimum wages as contractor’s bills remains pending over 1 year. Once, I had to personally pay salaries to workers during Chaturthi celebrations”.
Sawant said that the govt will streamline procedures, to absorb daily wages workers in PWD.
