AFTER DREDGING, COAL HANDLING WILL NOT BE PERMITTED AT BERTH 8 & 9 OF MPT:  GOA ENVIRONMENT MINISTER 

The environment minister, Nilesh Cabral on informed the legislative assembly that it will write to MPT chairman, that the port trust should not permit handling of coal and coke at berth No. 8 and 9 after carrying out capital dredging activity.

 

Responding to congress MLA, Alexio Reginaldo,  Cabral said that MPT’s berth No. 8 and 9 had facilities to handle different types of cargo. He said that in recent past, MPT use to handle iron ore from the said berths.  Cabral further told assembly that the capital dredging at MPT will be done, so that large vessels could be docked at the port.

 

Reginaldo expressed at the assembly that coal and coke handling at the MPT, without taking proper measures will influence pollution in Vasco.
