The state government on Saturday late night chaired a high level task force meeting with collector, police, transport, tourism and kadamba corporation officials apprehending law and order situation by private taxi operators in Goa. Tourism minister, Transport minister, Ports Minister also attended the meeting. Congress and NCP MLAs participated in the meeting.
Addressing media persons after the meeting, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said that govt was firm that it will not scrap Goa-miles app. He said that the govt had given directions to police officials to arrest taxi operator if they create law and order situation in Goa. Sawant said that Goa-miles vehicles would be provided with police security. He said that special hourly coaches would ply along coastal belt tourist and district control rooms were set under the supervision of district collectorates.
Further Speaking on the occasion, Port minister Micheal Lobo said that the app based was a need of an hour and only a section of leaders were misleading private taxi operators in the state.
Transport Minister, Mauvin Godhino said that the govt was prepared to face any eventuality and the govt will not step back implementing app based taxi operations. He said that, taxi operators creating law and order situation in Goa will be booked by the police dept and there permits would not be renewed by transport dept.
