Aftermath, heavy rainfall across the Indian western coast – interstate transport has been affected due to landslides and uprooting of trees in the western ghats. Flood like situation is witnessed across goan low lying areas, due to swelling of rivers. No casualty is reported.
Earlier, this morning multiple landslides at Chorla Ghat was reported. Several people and goods transporter remained stranded at Goa – Karnataka highway. Interruption at Goa – Maharashtra has also been reported along National Highway 66.
Since last 2 days, landslides have been reported along Konkan railway track, hence Indian railway had to either cancel or diverted many trains halting in Goa.
Goa Chief Minister, Pramod Sawant responding to media persons questions on the issue said that the govt had taken all measures to avert untowards eventualities. He said that govt was monitoring water levels of all the 6 rivers, through its collectors.
Sawant maintained, that the govt had roped in several agencies on war footing to clear up roads, which were blocked due to natural calamity.
He maintained that the govt was contemplating to declare a holiday on wednesday ( 7th August ) to primary and secondary schools subjected to weather conditions.
Sawant maintained, that water levels all dams and reservoirs were under control.
Indian meteorological department, has issued an orange alert for the state till 9th August.
Drinking water supply, Electricity supply has been affected across several parts of the state, due to uprooting of trees.
