GOA MINING ROW:  HOME MINISTRY CONSTITUTES COMMITTEE TO PROBE PENDING PROSECUTION IN MINING MATTERS

The Goa home ministry a 5 member high powered committee to examine the matter pertaining to action against illegal mining activities and legality/sustainability of the pending prosecution in mining matters.  The committee would be chaired by mines secretary and Law Secretary,  Inspector General of Goa Police, Director of Prosecution, Director of Mines as its members.

 

The committee shall suggest corrective measures, if any, to recommend to the Government to avoid any lucanae in the prosecutions in respect of illegal mining activities.

 

Under Secretary (Home), Nilesh Dhaigodkar, issues  orders after South Goa district court discharged the accused in illegal mining case vide Session Case No. 14 /2016 on the grounds that Court is barred from taking cognizance of offence in terms of Section 468 Cr.P.C. based on the complaint filed beyond the period of limitation.
