GOA TOURIST DROWNING ROW: DRISHTI IDENTIFIES 18 HOT-SPOTS. IRB POLICE TO BE DEPLOYED AT HOT-SPOTS

Drishti has identified 18 number of hot-spot areas along the coast which are potentially dangerous for swimming. These include the rocky areas of Anjuna, Vagator, Baga and Sinquerim area which are completely out of bounds. The riverside areas in Mobor and Morjim as well as the Baga creek are considered potentially unsafe areas.

2. Ashwem
3. Mandrem
4. Morjim
5. Anjuna.
6. Vagator.
7. Baga
8. Calangute
9. Candolim
10. Sinquerim

Hot-spots: South Goa
1. Velsao
2. Arossim
3. Majorda
4. Betalbatim
5. Colva
6. Mobor
7. Agonda
8. Palolem

 

Drishti Marine, Goa’s lifeguarding agency will be erecting 50 new flags along the coast in north and south Goa to alert visitors about the location of no-swim zones. The new flags bear the message ‘No Swimming Zone’ in English and Hindi on either sides of the flag along with the universally recognised symbol associated with the message.

 

The new flags have been erected in Baga, Ashvem, Morjim, Mandrem and Arambol. The flags are in the process of being erected at other beaches across Goa in the coming days.
