The Goa Co-operative minister Govind Gaude on Thursday informed media persons that the state government will commence procuring of sugarcane from Goan farmers from 18th November and it would be sent for crushing at a Karnataka sugar plant via Anmod Ghat. Gaude said that the state government would incur Rs. 1.95 lakhs for transporting the harvested sugarcane to Karnataka.
He further said that the government was contemplating to setup a Rs. 100 crore ethanol manufacturing plant on PPP mode at the existing Sanjivani Co-operative Sugar plant within next one year. Gaude said that factory will run for 365 days, by producing ethanol from sugar cane and Maze crop.
