GOA KARNATAKA MADHAI ROW: APPREHENDING PROTEST AT IFFI INAUGURAL, MOEF  CONSTITUTES COMMITTEE TO RESOLVE WATER DIVERSION ROW

A day ahead of inauguration of the 50th edition of International film festival of India in Goa, the union Minister for Environment and Climate change has written a letter to Goa Chief minister Pramod Sawant stating that the ministry had constituted a committee to review into river Madhai water diversion permissions at Kalsa – Bhanduri in Karnataka.

The letter comes from the MOEF headed by Prakash Javdekar, sighting a protest demonstration from the opposition, green activist and allied social activist at IFFI inaugural venue on 20th November.

 

Earlier, this month an all party delegation lead by Goa CM Sawant had meet Javdekar in Delhi.  Javdekar had asserted Goan legislators that it would review Madhai water diversion permission within 10 days.
