IFFI 2019: WHILE ENTERTAINING PEOPLE, FILM INDUSTRY MUST ENDEAVOUR TO BRING ABOUT A POSITIVE CHANGE AND TRANSFORMATION IN LIVES OF CITIZENS AND YOUTHS : MODI, PM – INDIA

The Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, marking the 50th edition of International Film Festival of India said that while entertaining the common people, the industry must make an endeavour to bring about a positive change and transformation in the lives of citizens and the youth, in particular.

 

Modi said that “Films are a crucial vehicle of mass communication and are a reflection of the society. The entertainment industry and films, in particular, have immense potential to shape the imagination of the masses”.

 

He said that “Cinema as a soft power can influence the perception of societies and nations. Even while entertaining the common people, the industry must make an endeavour to bring about a positive change and transformation in the lives of citizens and the youth, in particular.”

 

Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachan and Rajinikanth will open the 50th edition of IFFI on Wednesday in Panjim. Over 200 films across 76 nations would be screen at the international film competition between 21st to 28th November.
