GOA GOVT DECLINES TO PROVIDE SURPLUS SUBSIDY FOR ONION PRICE HIKE

Stating that prices of onions in the state were increased as people had left cultivating onion in there agricultural fields, the Goa Chief minister Pramod Sawant on Friday denied to bear surplus subsidy for onions.

Addressing a function, in Porvorim – Dr. Sawant said people can’t hold govt accountable for price rise of onions as farmers in Goa had left cultivation of onions in the state for past 5 to 6 years even after providing minimum support price for vegetable cultivations.

The state government was also paying inflations allowances to women in Goa through Graha Adahar scheme …… “why the state government has bear prices for onion subsidy ….?”, Sawant further said.
