WILL BLOCK NH-66 AT COLVALE, IF COMPENSATION FOR LAND IS NOT PAID TO HIGHWAY AFFECTED RESIDENTS IN 8 DAYS: GOA CONGRESS

The Congress party on Monday served an 8 day ultimatum to block national highway 66 at Colvale, if compensation were not paid to people, whose houses were demolished during expansion of the road.

Addressing media persons in Panjim, North Goa president Amarnath Panjikar said that the Congress party was sympathetic to the people who lost their houses during the highway compensation.  Panjikar further criticised the Pramod Sawant headed state government for not paying proper compensation to the affected people. He said that, MVR had illegally commenced highway construction work without acquiring the land.  Panjikar, maintained that congress party will stage a protest demonstration and block national highway in 8 days, if government fails to resolve the issue.
