SC ALLOWS ROYALTY PAID ORE HANDLING. CM SAWANT SAYS WILL GRANT ALL PERMISSIONS TO MINERS WITHIN 8 DAYS IF SHADED MINING WORKERS ARE ABSORBED BACK

As a part of interim relief to mining dependents in Goa, The Supreme Court on Thursday allowed mining companies to handle and export iron ore dumps lying on jetties & allied mining plots, if they have paid royalty to government authorities.

A bench headed by Chief Justice of India, S A Bobde pronounced the judgment on a plea by Goan mining  company Chowgule and Company Private Limited.

The bench directed the mining firm to transport the iron ore within a period of six months from today provided it has paid royalty to authorities and has valid license with regard to it.

Responding to Supreme Court’s verdict, Goa Chief minister Pramod Sawant said that the government will try provide all permissions to mining companies within 8 days, if miners assure the state government that it will absorb all its shaded workers.
