Around 40 people, at Mangor Hill in Vasco, on Wednesday have been tested positive for COVID-19 infection, a day after the state administration identified that a family of fishermen was examined affirmative for corona test, said Goa Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant after chairing a crucial meeting in regards with COVID-19 at Panjim.
Dr. Sawant told reporters that fishermen family was infected as a member of the family came in contact with a truck driver “may be” from “Andra Pradesh”. He said that the state government had sealed entry and exit points of Mangor Hill. He maintained that there would be no enhanced lockdown in Mormugao Taluka nor in Vasco city since as there were no community transmission in the state.
Several market places in Vasco witnessed extensive rush on Wednesday evening, fearing mobility restrictions due to spike in COVID-19 local transmission.
The Leader of Opposition, Digambar Kamat has demanded a white paper on Goa COVID-19 issue from the state government. Opposition MLA’s Vijai Sardesai & Rohan Khaunte has also criticized the state government over local transmission of Corona virus in the state.
