3 youths, including Revolutionary Goan’s Chief Manoj Parab, Viresh Borkar and Alexio D’souza were arrested by Valpoi police officials on Thursday evening for protesting against upcoming IIT – Goa project at Guleli village in sattari Taluka. The police department has imposed bailable charges on trio, for violating section 144 of CRPC. Earlier today morning, hundreds of villagers from Valpoi staged protest against the Guleli panchayat and Health minister Vishwajeet Rane for highhandedly attempting to setup IIT project in around 10 lakh square meter forest area razing several trees.
Around 5 villagers from Guleli village were also detained earlier this day for participating at the IIT protest site. Villagers who were detained after they had arguments with police officials, at the protest site were released in the evening.
