WHILE INDIA AND CHINA STANDOFF CONTINUES, GOAN MINERS ATTEMPTS PRESSURIZING STATE GOVT TO RESUME CHINA EXPORTED IRON ORE MINING

While, India and China are locked in a border standoff at Line of Actual Control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh , mining depends in the state are trying to put a pressure on the state government for resumption of mining activity and export of Iron ore from Goa.  Mostly, the low grade ore mined from the Goan pits are exported to china for manufacturing steel.

The Goa Chief Minister, Dr. Pramod Sawant has assured miners to chair a high level bureaucratic meeting in next 4 days, to find new avenues to resumption of the mining activity in the state.  Last week, Supreme court of India, has allowed transportation of extracted ore dumps till 31st January 2021.

Goa congress party president Giresh Chodankar, on Friday criticized the state government, for attempting to restart the mining industry sans supreme courts directive. The Supreme Court is yet to hear mining review petition filed by Private miners, State government and Panchayats in regards with extension of mining leases .
