Although the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) Act has came into force in the state on 18th September, 2019 – the Goa Government headed by Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant appears to sideline its own legislation while recruiting employees in the govt sector.
Social and political observers indicate that the Dr. Sawant has become a toothless mouthpieces acting against decisions taken by health minister Vishwajeet Rane. Observers claim that Rane could create a internal setback for the BJP at 2022 assembly elections, in Sanqulim, Mayem, Bicholim, Valpoi, Poriem constituencies, if chief minister opposes his directives.
Under secretary health Swati Dalvi, informed Goajunction that recruitment of nurses in DHS comes under the ambit of staff selection commission. Dalvi however, said that she was unaware if the nurses at the GMC were coming from under SSC ambit.
On Monday, the state English daily “Oherald” exposed a recruitment scam into Goa dental college scam. According, to Herald – Goa Health ministry has recruited around 37 nurses on regular basis in dental college against the vacant posts without declaring results of Interviews and examinations conducted by health dept.
“Information available with Herald reveals that at least 17 candidates out of 37 are from Sattari itself, besides others from Bicholim and other areas. Health Minister Vishwajit Rane is the MLA from Valpoi constituency in Sattari”, Herald published on Monday.
Goa health minister, Vishwajeet Rane on Monday responding to media persons in Panjim said that there are written and objective exams which candidates have to answer. He said that “I can’t help with respect to answering exams. I am of opinion that experienced aspirants should get opportunities. I cannot go and answer exam for them.”
Rane further said “I just want to say, that when contract applicants apply for regular employment, uniform rules and regulations are applicable for everyone”.
He maintained that “You know my history …… you know my working style ….. main means , if someone put’s headlines ….. that does not mean, it should be true news …… but I don’t want to criticize any one”.
