Ahead of the fast approaching, Christmas celebrations in Goa, the state government on Monday announced to import beef, live stock and allied cattle’s from other states excluding Karnataka. The decision comes days after Karnataka assembly banned intra state transportation of cattle’s below age of 13 years.
Speaking to reporters in Panjim, Goa Chief minister Dr. Pramod Sawant told reporters that “At present, transportation of beef in Goa had been hampered”. He said that “I have directed Animal Husbandry and veterinary department to source Beef and live animals from other states …… We will give permission for them”.
Dr. Sawant maintained that “Even I worship Cow as goddess, there are around 30% minority populations in Goa …… being Chief Minister of Goa, I am obliged care for people in Goa”, Dr. Sawant further said.
