The state government will notify 3 lakes including “Sheldem, Nanda And Dhashi” as wet lands by next week. 14 more lands will be notified for raising public objections in next 60 days. Out of total 452 identified only 82 will be notified as wet land, said Goa Environment minister, Nilesh Cabral.
Addressing media persons in Porvorim on Wednesday, Cabral said that the government will permit certain activities like cultivation, building houses beyond 50 meter adjacent to sites identified as “Wet Land” and “Zone Of Influence” by National Institute of oceanography’s scientific studies.
He maintained that the government will roll out a scheme for construction of Sewage treatment plant for people residing along periphery of wet land
