GOA MAGISTRATE BANS USE OF LOUDSPEAKER ON MOSQUES WITHOUT OBTAINING PRIOR PERMISSION || MOSQUES NOISE SOURCE AT CAPPED 10 DB(A)

The Additional district magistrate in Ponda, earlier this month has banned the use of loudspeaker / Public address systems or and sound producing instruments at mosques without obtaining prior permission from the concern authority.

Pronouncing orders into a petition filled by Varun Pirolkar, Additional district magistrate, Gaurish Kuttikar, said that “ The respondents are hereby directed not to be use loudspeaker / Public address systems or and sound producing instruments without obtaining prior permission from the concern authority”.

He said “Even if permission is granted then noise level, where loudspeaker or public address system or any other noise source is being used shall not exceed 10 dB(A) above the ambient noise standard for the area or 75 dB(A) whichever is lower”.

“The ponda police inspector is directed to keep a regular watch on the respondents and ensure that they comply noise pollution directives”, Gaurish said.
