Goa government hereto, uses Remdesivir at COVID 19 hospitals in the state, despite world health organizations (WHO) has dropped the drug from its official list of COVID-19 treatments. The state’s health department also continues to use Ivermectin for COVID treatment, as it has no written orders from the union government.
Speaking to media persons on Thursday, Goa health minister Vishwajeet Rane said that the “WHO says don’t use Remdesivir, but till date we are using Remdesivir”. Rane further responding to media persons questions said that new Super Specialty Block commissioned at Bambolim was fully centralized air condition hospital & was never designed for covid 19 treatments. He however maintained that centralized air conditions at the new Super Specialty Block had been equipped by high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filters, which filters viruses.
Meanwhile, Dean of the Goa Medical College, Dr. Shivanand Bandekar said that the Government continues using Ivermectin for COVID treatment, as nobody has said to remove it. He maintained that the health department had not received any written orders.
